Do cranes always have to be bulky and heavy? Not from our point of view! An illustrative example: Our customized crane solution for BASF Coatings in Münster (DE). It shines with its light weight, which is unusual for crane construction.
It took only 4 months from the award of the contract to the commissioning of the special crane. The specification from BASF Coatings was for a lightweight crane to be used in the "Technikum" in Münster for testing special coating processes with new paints - mainly for the automotive industry. On the one hand, this involved low moving loads and on the other - due to different load geometries - the synchronization of two hoists.
The third particularly noteworthy aspect comes from the requirements of the process. In the cathodic dip coating process, 1,000 volts are present in the dip tank. It was therefore necessary to ensure complete galvanic isolation between the load and the mechanical construction.
Thanks to the aluminum components used here for the support structures, we were able to use very compact, lightweight drives. This saves space and is also extremely energy-efficient. A conventional crane system for this application weighs at least two and a half to three tons, whereas the ROXA only weighs around 950 kilograms.

"When building cranes, people usually think in tons and often forget that 80 percent of the loads loads that need to be handled in industry today weigh less than 500 kilograms."
